GMADA DONATES $100,000 TO VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS AT TWIN CITIES AUTO SHOW
Saint Paul, Minn. (May 19, 2022) --- On May 17, the Greater Metropolitan Automobile Dealers Association of Minnesota, Inc. (GMADA) hosted the 8th annual Military Appreciation Night at the Twin Cities Auto Show. Free admission, compliments of Toyota, was given to those currently serving in the military and veterans with discounts for their families.
The festivities included a parade featuring classic military vehicles driven by Veterans and Parade Grand Marshal Reg Chapman, a Gulf War Veteran and reporter at WCCO TV. Afterwards, a ceremony was held to salute those who served complete with a color guard and the singing of “The National Anthem.” Command Sergeant Major Brian Soper, the highest-ranking officer in the Minnesota National Guard, addressed the crowd. Then, $100,000 in donations were presented to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Minnesota, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), three American Legion Posts and a VFW Post.
Representatives from American Legion Posts 45 (New Prague), 129 (South Minneapolis) and 452 (Keewatin) as well as VFW Post 9625 (Coon Rapids) were presented with a $1,000 check each to recognize their outstanding work in the community.
The Twin Cities Auto Show also presented two “giant check” donations on behalf of the member dealerships of the GMADA for $48,000 each to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Minnesota and Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV).
“It was our true honor to present $100,000 to these worthy Veteran organizations to help them continue their great work assisting those who have bravely served our country,” says Scott Lambert, president of the GMADA. “This year’s donation by our member dealerships is a record, more than double in years past.”
The DAV of Minnesota is a 19,000-member Veteran Service Organization committed to ensuring that the promises made of our Veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors are kept. The DAV provides free transportation to Veterans who require assistance getting to their VA medical appointments. www.davmn.org .
Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is a Veteran-focused nonprofit organization providing services and support to end Veteran homelessness in Minnesota. We envision a future where every Veteran and their family has access to sustainable housing. www.mac-v.org

This is the last weekend for the 49th annual Twin Cities Auto Show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The most experiential event in Show history is adding more experiences this weekend - all free with admission.
The ATV Big Air Tour will host three shows filled with incredible stunts, gravity-defying jumps, music, choreography, and some of the BEST ATV and Off-Road riders in the USA. Eight riders – including 8-time X-Games medalist Brett Turcotte - will take to the sky on motorcycles, BMX bikes, ATVs, and electric motorbikes. They’ll even launch over EV cars.
Show Schedule: Friday May 20 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 21 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Daily Parades with Celebrity Grand Marshals – parades will begin at 2 p.m. and wind through the Fairgrounds. The route starts near Randall and Underwood, then rolls down Underwood to Dan Patch to Carnes to Liggett and back around.

WHAT: The 8th annual Military Appreciation Night at the Twin Cities Auto Show.
On Military Appreciation Night, May 17, all active military and veterans will receive FREE entrance to the Twin Cities Auto Show courtesy of Toyota. Guests and family members accompanying military professionals will receive half off gate admission.
There will be military-themed exhibits, classic military vehicles, a parade at 6 p.m. and a ceremony at 7 p.m. with donations given to the DAV, MACV, three American Legion Posts and a VFW Post.

Minnesota Auto Dealers Association to Host ‘Careers in Cars Day’ during the Twin Cities Auto Show Today, the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association (MADA) announced today that they will be hosting a day dedicated to showcasing the careers available in the retail auto industry to young adults and job seekers. Careers in Cars Day will be held Friday, May 20 in the Education Building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the Twin Cities Auto Show. Anyone interested in attending can sign up through the Auto Show website 49th Annual Twin Cities Auto Show :: careerincars People who register in advance will receive a special credential at the front gate, free admission to the Twin Cities Auto Show and a complimentary Auto Show t-shirt (while supplies last). “We plan to highlight and showcase the many great jobs and careers available in dealerships,” stated MADA President Scott Lambert. “And representatives from different dealerships and dealership groups will be on hand to discuss the many positive aspects of the industry and even take job applications right on the spot.” Lambert pointed out that Minnesota’s retail new car and truck industry employed over 20,000 people with an average annual wage of over $58,000.
