TOP PRIZES IN THE 3RD ANNUAL DOVER DAYS CAR SHOW

DOVER, DE – Get out your paste wax, buff up your wheels and get your classic car in tip-top shape for the 3rd Annual Dover Days Car Show, set for Friday, May 6, 411 Legislative Avenue in Dover, DE, 5:30 to 9 p.m.

“We invite and encourage everyone to come out, bring their cars and spend a fun-filled evening with us,” said Jeff Townsend, owner of Townsend Bros. Chevrolet in Dover. “Legislative Mall is a beautiful backdrop, and we look forward to being a major part of this year’s show.”

This show includes hot rods, street rods, classics, vintage, imports and antique cars exhibiting around the historic Legislative Mall. Large trophies will be awarded, based on participant judging, to Best in Show and Best Top 20. Full-color commemorative dash plaques will be awarded to the first 150 entries.

A live music “Tourism Gives Back” concert featuring oldies music by the fabulous Honeycombs will take place during the car show. Food vendors will be available.

New this year is a major Civil War encampment staged by the 2nd Delaware Regiment Volunteers, a Delaware re-enactment group. 2nd Delaware’s Friday evening events include an 8 p.m. lecture, “The Delaware Infantryman in the Civil War,” and from 9 to 10 p.m., candlelight tours of the camp with a question and answer period.

Also set for Legislative Mall is a corn hole tournament from 6-9 p.m. Corn hole is similar to horseshoes except competitors use wooden boxes called corn hole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. The double-elimination competition is open to the first 32 four-person teams. Pre-registration is $40 per team and $50 night of if not sold out.

Car owners participating in the show are encouraged to spend the weekend and ride in the Dover Days parade on Saturday morning, May 7. The Dover Days Festival is the longest running and largest festival in Delaware’s State Capital, celebrating First State History. It honors age-old traditions and combines new activities every year. Special Dover Days lodging packages are available.

7th Annual Canterbury Corvette Fest – Press Release

The 7th Annual Canterbury Corvette Fest, sponsored by GMC Corvette Set, will be held at Olde World Canterbury Village, Lake Orion, Saturday, June 18, 2011. The show is open to Corvettes of all years, stock, modified or custom. We are expecting up to 150 Corvettes to be entered and judged. An additional 50+ club member cars will be on display and are not included in the judged event. Registration begins at 8:00 am. with an Awards Ceremony at 3:00 pm. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in fifteen classifications. General admission to Canterbury Village is free. Participant registration is $25/car in advance or $30/car day of show. There will be a Silent Auction with a wide selection of items for everyone and proceeds from this Show and the Silent Auction will benefit Leader Dogs for the Blind. Leader Dogs has been the designated charity of the Club for many years; we have donated well over $100,000 to Leader Dogs over that time.

The GMC Corvette Set has actively sponsored car shows for over 20 years. Our motto is “We joined because of the car. We stay because of the people.” Membership in the club is open to all persons with an interest in Corvettes and monthly member meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at the Leader Dogs for the Blind facility in Rochester. Kansas City Art Institute to host Fifth Annual Art of the Car Concours® on June 26
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 16, 2011) -

The fifth annual Art of the Car Concours®, featuring more than
180 vintage, classic and special-interest vehicles, including cars, trucks, racing cars and vintage motorcycles belonging to Midwest area collectors, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 26 on the campus of the Kansas City Art Institute, 4415 Warwick Blvd.

“This event, a benefit for the KCAI scholarship fund, is growing in popularity and stature among vintage and classic collectors,” said Marshall Miller, a Kansas City attorney and vintage car afficiando who founded and serves as chairman of the event. “The Concours is unique for its size and scale in having no formal judging and no classes of vehicles. The intention is to provide a wide range of very high-quality, original, vintage vehicles in an eclectic, informal setting, without the pressure of traditional Concours events.”

Advance tickets may be purchased online for $12 at www.artofthecarconcours.com. The day of the event, tickets may be purchased for $15 at the gate. Children 10 years old and under, as well as active duty military (with identification), will be admitted free.

In addition, early-bird tickets are available online and at the gate for anyone who would like to arrive between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. to watch and photograph vintage cars arriving for the event and driving into position on the campus green. Those tickets cost $17 when
purchased online and $20 at the gate. Anyone who purchases a $12 ticket online but who then comes early to the event may pay another $5 to enter the campus. Proceeds from sponsorships and ticket sales will benefit KCAI’s scholarship fund.

One of the most popular activities at the concours is voting for “People’s Choice” awards. Ballots will be distributed to all who attend the event, and they will be invited to vote for their favorite cars. After the votes are counted, trophies created by KCAI students will be presented to the top five vote-getters. Corporate sponsors, the president of KCAI and the chairman of the Concours also will be present trophies to the owners of special vehicles chosen as the best in categories that range from “best color” to “car we’d most like to insure.”

“In five years the Concours has grown to the largest in the Midwest for high-quality original vehicles of a wide variety,” Miller said. “There is no similar event in Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, St. Louis or Dallas.

As a result, exhibitors, sponsors and visitors from around the country will be traveling to Kansas City for the Concours. This year we have many new vehicles that will delight our guests. We especially encourage multi-generations of families to attend, as that is how I started my interest.”

Miller said that he anticipates that from 180 to 200 vehicles, trucks and vintage motorcycles will be on display. Many of the local vehicles are in private collections and have not been publicly displayed. Amelia Island and Pebble Beach Concours winners also will be displayed.

The show has become a tradition with the annual Reunion for York US 30 Dragway that closed thirty years ago this year.

The show is not only an annual reunion for the York track but has also become an annual reunion for some of the most prestigious names in drag racing, all who have competed at this famous track at one time or another. The show is the only show of its kind and will feature over 700 cars at both the inside show and the Cruisin’ Into Summer cruise in on the West Plaza.

The show is an annual benefit to the York County SPCA with proceeds being derived from a memorabilia auction, 50-50 drawings, and contributions made to the People’s Choice canisters placed at each entered vehicle.

Annual Legion of Honor awards will be presented on Friday evening to deserving recipients by the National Nostalgia Drag Racing Association. Each recipient received an individual award for their accomplishments and their names were placed upon a perpetual award that will be on display at the Eastern Museum of Motorsports Museum in York Springs, PA.

An award presented by your peers is held in the highest esteem.

The great nostalgia weekend culminated with the running of the York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, July 10th.

Last years event saw 16,000 cars…

Businesses along the route need to take advantage of the additional traffic. But just being open is not enough. Cruisers are very supportive of businesses that support the cruise. Getting on board is important. Cruisers are also very picky about where they park their car. Make sure your lot is clean. Arrange an area for classic cars and hot rods to park away from normal cars. Set up some outdoor seating area. Arrange for a band or DJ.

Give the cruisers a reason to support your business. If you don’t know how, please feel free to call and we will be happy to come out and give you some ideas. We do not charge for this service. Your success is our success.

Friday July 8th is our charity Kick Off party. This years charity is the Dearborn Firefighters Burn fund. Stop by and join us for a fun evening at the Automotive Hall of Fame. You can even dunk Don in the dunk tank.

Saturday at the Cruise enjoy the Music of the Six Foot Poles at the Avenue Bar. Both Brownies Diner and L * Georges will be having Cruiser specials. Village Ford has the Mustang Club of S.E. Michigan and Demmers has the SVT Group.

And don’t forget Polks Auto. They always host an open house with food and entertainment.

American Muscle’s 3rd Annual Mustang Show

The 3rd Annual Mustang Show, presented by AmericanMuscle.com, is set to be one of the year’s hottest Mustang-only events! 17th Annual Mountain Classic Car Show

Mountain Classic Car Show Now in its 17th Year
Event showcases pre-1973 American rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks.
The highly anticipated Mountain Classic Car Show returns to the San Gabriel mountain community of Wrightwood on a Saturday in August 2011, promising free fun for the entire family.
This popular event, which draws thousands from around the Southland, kicks off on the preceding Friday, with a no-host reception at the Wrightwood Inn featuring hors d’oeuvres, live music by a band TBA, and dancing through 1 a.m.
On Saturday, the fun continues with a pancake breakfast at the community center between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and the show runs until 4 p.m.

More than a car show.
In addition to viewing souped-up and restored cars from the 1920’s-1970’s, guests can take part in a Poker Walk, where five businesses give out one playing card each. The winner with the best hand wins $100. Also on tap is a Whack Attack, in which guests can take turns smacking an old car for $1 per shot; an Open Header contest in which the roar of the crowd determines the car with the loudest engine; and Pit Alley, where children and adults can participate in low-rider trike drags.

The Mountain Classic Car show is open to all pre-1973 American made rods, customs, classics and muscle cars or trucks. The show attracts many cars that are not often shown elsewhere in California, and 250 or more cars are expected to be on display.

This is a public event, open to anyone who owns a Mopar new or old, classic or custom. The show is FREE to participants and spectators. Miss Car Craft 2011 will be available for photos and sign posters at her booth. Local hot rod artist Nick Sinclair will also be onsite with art and t-shirts. Show will be held Friday, September 30 through Sunday, October 2, 2011 in downtown
